Taking part in the Battle of Britain the ‘Emil’ variant was the backbone of the Luftwaffe fighter force against RAF Hurricanes and Spitfires. The Bf prefix refers to Bayerische Flugzeugwerke the original development company of which Willy Messerschmitt was chairman and managing director.
