Formed in 1996 as Diverse Images Ltd by Tim Staples and Sera Vine, the company name was changed to Staples and Vine Ltd in 2017. The first model produced was a 1:144 scale copy of Tim’s fathers Blenheim Mk IV. Gradually over the years Sera’s knowledge and skill at creating masters has evolved from that first basic Blenheim through projects like the Fairey Swordfish to the highly detailed 1:48 scale fighters and tanks produced today.
As knowledge of our handcrafted models widened we were approached by a number of organisations. We were invited to attend the 2005 and 2006 Al Ain air shows, produced a limited edition to accompany two of Breitling’s watches and a diorama of Hampdens commissioned by Wg Cdr Jim Flint is now on display in the mess at RAF Scampton. Likewise a number of our silver models have been commissioned by various RAF Squadrons.
The company cat Winston, an aptly named British Blue, arrived in 2007 and later that year Sera and Tim were married.
The processes we use have also evolved. Sera still casts and produces all our models by hand but now utilises 3D printing in the production of the first very basic master. Another development is a new range of light civil aircraft available in individual markings as the ultimate private pilots desk piece. Our decals are now produced in house using a combination of a 10 colour inkjet and a 4 colour (white) Laser Printer.
In 2017 we launched a range of pewter tanks and a merchandise range of exclusive designer T shirts and Mugs all produced in house to exacting standards. Our first model of a flying boat was also produced in 2017 and we have plans for a new range of highly detailed World War I aircraft models.
Continuing with our search for new ideas our T shirts and mugs are now available online on this site We have a large following on Twitter along with developing accounts on both Facebook and Instagram. Sera’s Blogs on both the pewtertanks and pewteraircraft sites have also been widely welcomed.
